A year after ISIS took over power in Palmyra, the Syrian city has recently been liberated by Syrian forces with the help of airstrikes from Russia. It was previously home to a number of the world’s most treasured historical sites and many artifacts that were all destroyed in the Islamic purge before the Russian-backed government troops successfully took action to retake the city.
